FOUNDERS, ALAN & FRAN LEVIN
THE VIPERS SPORTS GROUP WAS FOUNDED BY MR. ALAN LEVIN, MRS. FRAN LEVIN, AND MR. MARC THOMPSON M.S.W.
The Viper’s founders will function as the Organization’s administrators and will serve as the founding Board of Directors. The Organization’s By-Laws provide for a Program Director and up to seven Board members, all of whom will be elected over time. Below is a summary bio of each of the organization’s founders:
Alan M. Levin, is the President and CEO of Northeast Building Products, a Philadelphia based window and door manufacturer that was founded in 1975 by Mr. Levin’s parents.
Mr. Levin started working in the family business at a young age, and by 1986 was working on a full-time basis. In 2002, Mr. Levin took over the company as its president and CEO, and began to modernize the plant and to expand the company’s geographic reach. Mr. Levin’s commitment to environmental responsibility and to quality products led him to become the first manufacturer in the world to introduce the innovative Sashlite window spacer system, the most energy-efficient window technology on the market.
Today, Mr. Levin continues to innovate and to invest heavily in energy-efficient technologies and operating practices. Aided by his wife Fran Levin, who is the company’s Executive Vice President and who has also been instrumental in the success of company, Mr. Levin continues the rapid expansion of Northeast Building Products.
In October of 2009, Mr. Levin finalized the acquisition of an adjacent 9.5 acres of property featuring a 50,000 square foot distribution center, bringing Northeast’s total manufacturing and distribution space to over 265,000 square feet on more than 18 acres of land. The acquisition features prominently in the company’s future expansion plans.
The Levins have two loving children, Sydney, age 19 and Austin, age 16, and have been happily married for over 21 years.
In addition to running Northeast Building Products, Mr. Levin sits on the board of the United Business Owners Association (UBOA).
Fran Levin is the Executive Vice President and a Board member of Northeast Building Products as well as the Treasurer of the MPAA. She currently oversees all sales and marketing for the company, whose territory ranges from Massachusetts to Atlanta, and as far west as Wisconsin. In addition to these responsibilities, Mrs. Levin is in charge of community outreach, working with non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and Bethanna. Mrs. Levin is also a volunteer consultant and fundraiser for the American Paradigm Charter Schools and is a founding Board Member of the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association (MPAA).Continuing with her work toward change, Levin is a mentor to interns from the Philadelphia Academies Youth Work Ready program. Levin also sits on the Board of Trustees for the Madlyn and Leonard Center for Jewish Life.
Mrs. Levin has a background in basketball, having played at the competitive level in high school. In 1992, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware with a double-major in Communications and Spanish. Mrs. Levin has also completed graduate work towards an MBA at Temple University.
